This website is a working replica of a mid-90s desktop operating system — built as my personal portfolio. Draggable windows, a taskbar, a Start menu, desktop icons, a Recycle Bin with “deleted files” from my past, a playable Minesweeper, a BIOS boot screen, and even a Blue Screen of Death if you try to drag the Home icon into the bin. Everything you remember, running in a modern browser.

Why Windows 95?

My first computer was a 486DX, and the desktop metaphor of that era shaped how I think about interfaces: honest buttons that look like buttons, windows you can move, and a system that never hides what it’s doing. Rebuilding it felt like the most personal way to show what I do — and a lot more fun than another minimal one-pager.

How it’s built

• A custom WordPress theme, written from scratch — no page builders, no UI frameworks.
• Window manager, taskbar, drag-and-drop and all easter eggs in ~1000 lines of vanilla JavaScript.
• Pure CSS bevels, pixel-art SVG icons drawn by hand, and the classic dithered taskbar buttons.
• Each section has its own metaphor: services are floppy disks, tools live in a Norton Commander, mobile apps run on a brick phone, and themes sit on a software shelf.
• Under the retro skin: full schema.org markup, breadcrumbs, lazy-loading, dark mode, GDPR consent mode, and a 90+ Lighthouse performance score.
